Default Sub and Amp install

Alright sorry for posting as i know there have been 1000 posts on stereo upgrades. I know this as i clicked through a ton trying to find an answer.

im pretty sure i remember a post that showed the rear of the 8in touch screen with MFT.

Im trying to find out a good/better way of installing an amp that i can run rca's to instead of tying into the rear speaker wires. I read in another post that the output from the headunit is crossovered(not a word, but you know what i mean) already so they are not a good source for an amp.

This may not be true but figured i would check to see what others thought. or if someone can remember the name of the post that showed the headunit pulled out.

Thanks

Using the rear speaker wires is perfectly acceptable as long as you are you using a high level converter/eq or your amp accepts high level inputs. Most amps do now a days.

This is really the only way you can do it unless you upgrade to an aftermarket headunit.

Since you are just installing the Sub Amp, I see no issue with the Hi/Lo converter. I have installed 100s of them in many vehicles with no problems. If you were to do a full system upgrade with a High's amp, then yes you would want to explore other options. I have a Hi/Lo converter installed at my left door pillar. Works great for my amp/sub setup. Since you already have high level inputs, you are good to go. Just look up the wire colors for the rear speakers and go for it.

The normal (non-sony) outputs are full signal at the HU. The head unit does not have RCA plugs - only has a proprietary ford harness. You can use the parrot FOR11-CK harness to build a plug-n-play solution that will give you access to the individual speaker wires without having to cut the factory harness if that's a concern. From speaker level to RCA you use a converter (which I've never messed with).

good info thank you. The harness would be nice if it added the option for RCAs. but if i would still have to tie into the speaker wires it kind of defeats the purpose.
