What is wrong with my 2017 Lariat sony stynk system. Plugged into the front usb, no recognition that the phone is hard wired into the truck, it goes into a charge, no charge cycle, then starts depleting battery. Plugged into the rear usb, it charges but plays off Bluetooth. Any ideas what is wrong? iPhone 6.

If you haven't noticed from Ford's latest tech effort of taking an off the shelf iPad and just bolting it in the middle of the dash portrait-style in the 2020 Explorer, they are not very good at infotainment stacks. In fact Ford is one of the worst out of the manufacturers right now.

Might be a bad USB port. I would pop it out and and check the connection on the back of it. They are cheap enough and easy to replace. I have one on the side of my laptop that does the same thing, those are harder to replace.

And this helps him how? I like the system in my 2016 and 2019. But hey that is my opinion and does not help the OP.

try with a different cable and then different phone. I've used up a couple of iPhone cables in my day, to say the least lol. they will cut out like this when the wires start to fray off. I'd also maybe consider looking for a new phone in general, the iPhone 6 is pretty old at this point & no longer receiving regular software updates and security patches.

Another thought is clean the Lighting port out. Dust bunnies will cause this also. I use a thin swizzle straw bend the end enough to fit into the port and blow in the other end. Or use canned air to clean it out.

you have not driven a tundra recently. makes ford seem like a tesla.
when my phone isnt recognized by sync, i reset it by holding seek and forward buttons and when it reboots it works. Also, either the phone or the vehicle, seem to be very picky about the cable too.

totally disagree. ford saw a huge jump in the JD Power ratings for Sync 3. Now the old Sync 2 based on Microsoft was pretty glitchy so that's a different story. I'd try out some other systems before passing judgement, there's some real stinkers out there! also, you don't have to use sync at all, plug in any modern ios or andriod device and use their respective "car" systems. carplay is really nice & I use it every day.
