Default Stupid question

I want to get a 112" by 26" slab of granite and move it 50 miles in my 6.5 foot bed. Can I rest the 2 feet or so on my tailgate? Would it hold up?

BTW the complete weight of the slab should be less than 800lbs.

Can you lay it on some 10 foot 2x4's and tie it down so it doesn't slide around.

I'd put it on top of several 4x4s and tie it down good so it doesn't bounce. Tailgate down

Down,, Heck if it holds me sitting on it it will hold couple of feet of granite. Just want to make sure it's supported evenly the whole length so it doesn't crack at the bed-gate joint..

I'd be more concerned about cracking the granite than hurting the bed. Supported with some 2x4s or planks you should be fine. Strap it tight so it can't bounce

If it was me I'd get a buffer something like rubber between the wood. No matter how.tight you tighten it down you will get vibrations through it. Something to help null those would be ideal. But that my opinion
