Default Stuck in park

'17 xlt 3.5L fx4, 6Kmi.

Last night after parking on a slight decline when I went to leave I got the wrench symbol and notices that the hill parking assist and then the hill decline circuits had problems. The transmission is locked in park like it is if you dont have the brake depressed. Starts and runs fine, no funny noises.

Has anyone else seen an issue like this?

Thanks everyone.

Sorry Larry, I've never seen that one. Have you tried rocking the truck back and forth?

Is there a recall on your truck for the roll pin replacement?

There was on my 2017 and not being able to shift out of park was one of the listed symptoms.

There are instructions in the owner's manual on how to use the brake shift interlock override in case this happens.

Thanks guys.

Enoch. The first tow guy that showed up, but couldnt tow with his tow truck because mine was stuck in park, offered to pull it back a bit (rock it) to see if something would let loose, I declined, didnt want to mess around with a brand new truck like that. I waited for the tow truck that could handle it. I was only about a mile from the dealer anyway.

I'll check on that recall BCMI. I've had it in for an oil change and tire rotation so I'd have thought they would have checked that, shouldnt assume though.

Well that interlock override would have been handy yesterday dang it. Thanks RL. Good to know now anyway.

I'll update when all is said and done.

Thanks again.

I had this problem when the brake fuse blew.. Had to use the interlock release to get truck home.. At that time only place to buy the fuse was at a Ford dealer.

Well this is a pisser.

The folks that installed my topper wired the topper brake light line to a communication wire instead of the brake light wire, after 3 months like that it blew a fuse. Fuse 14 in the BCM.

It seems ok now but I'm concerned that reliability may have been compromised and I'd bet my warranty on anything electronic is now shot. The last line on the invoice says 'working as designed at this time'. Not good.

Best I can do is keep an eye on the OBD watching for trouble, I may spring for one of the port monitors that runs continuously.

You will be fine now that you have that wire off the system! 'working as designed at this time' is a common phrase that is used!

Thanks icecoldak. I need to cool down for a day or two before I go visit the topper people. It's a family run business and my impression was they are good people. **** happens.

You didn't say anything about having a topper installed,, if you had I would of explained how my fuse got blown.. My topper installer wrapped the third brake light wire around the driveshaft.. Lasted 4000 miles before it finally wore through the insulation and shortened out.
