Stock rim ( 275/55/20) vs 305/50/20
Hello,
I have a 2015 F150 XLT 4x4 and have installed a 2" ground force leveling kit at the front.
Currently using 275/55 R20 on this truck and would like to go to 305/50/R20 and using the same rims.
Does anyone know if this is possible? One tire dealer told me that the largest I can go is 285/55R50 because If I go larger, I will end up with rubbing.
But I would like to go with a 305/50R20 or a 33/12R20
Can anyone help me ?
Thanks

I've been researching a similar setup, but mine might be tougher. I have an '18 RCLB that's getting a "reverse level". (Stock in the front, 1 1/2" drop in the back.) I have 20" Special Edition wheels that I'm going to wrap with 305/50R20s. Found someone who put 305/55R20s (slightly bigger) on stock wheels with a stock suspension and says they don't rub.

Thanks so far and I am wondering now if they would fit since I have a 2" leveling kit installed.
So based on this you were able to get your 305/55r20 installed on the 20" special edition wheels, wondering what the difference is between the 20" special edition wheels and the 20" stock wheels? Does anyone have an answer?
Thanks

Just to be clear, you are aware the 275 number is the width of the tire and 55 is the height of tire from the rim right? Meaning based on your question, you would going down in tire size and instead increasing width? Is this what you are going for?

55 is not a measurement of height, it's a rough percentage of sidewall vs. width, so a wider tire with the same sidewall height will decrease in "profile" or "aspect ratio" measurement.

Hi dhmcfadin.
Thanks for your response. Yes I know that the 275 number is the width, where I would like to go wider thus 305 and I am aware that the 55 is the height and based on my understanding that if I switch tires from 275/55R20 to 305/50R20, I increase the width by a little of an inch which I want but the height stays about the same. The question I have is can I install 305/50R20 on my current 20" rims that have the 275/55R20 on them?

Using this website https://tiresize.com/comparison/ I'd say they are so close you may get away with it. I did check a couple tire MFG tire spec sheets for the 305/50. Both said it fits rims from 8.5" to 11". The stock Ford 20" rims are 8.5" so they could accept the 305's but best situation would be the 9.5". So it's up to you....
