Default steering column recall

While I was negotiating for the new truck I decided to purchase, I was told by the online sales rep, that the particular truck in question had a recall and they had to look at it before i could take possession. i haven't seen a thread about recalls, but has anyone heard of this steering column recall? i was told they needed to check a particular screw or pin in the steering column assembly to see if they needed to replace it or not.

they immediately sent feedback to the salesperson that all was ok, from our walk from service back to her office. is it possible to check something like that so quickly?

is this a normal occurrence? i have not been involved in one. almost didn't purchase that particular one, but was told over and over that it was ok and normal to have these things recalled and checked on.

feedback please

Sometimes its just a matter of looking up VIN to see if the recall has been taken care of. I would say no worries recall fixes are not bad. I'm sure they checked in on it because if they say its fixed but its not they are liable for it so one would like to assume they would make sure it was okay. On side note I have not heard anything about a recall for that. just my thoughts

It takes 30 seconds to punch in the VIN and see if the recall was completed. Seems like that is what happened. If they sent a tech out to actually check the steering shaft it would have taken about 10-15 mins. The recall was for bad or missing rivets.

Are there symptoms to this recall? Every now and again, I feel like my front end feels "loose" when it bumps, that I feel up through the steering wheel. It could just be me being neurotic.

This recall was widely reported at the time. One example:

Yes it can be that quick. I checked my 2015 F150 Lariat myself.

If you look at your steering column under your dash inside the truck. You can see the connection and there are some rivets. Take a 10mm box end wrench and see if it will fit over the rivets if not and they look good your fine.

Here is a pic I took of mine.

Near the universal joint? Could you put an arrow next to the rivets you are talking about? Sorry for being a dunce
