Default Starting Issues

Last week or so I've started experiencing starting issues. Step on the brake, push the button, just clicks followed by another click 2-3 seconds later. Sometimes it fires up, most of the time it won't.

Had the battery checked at Sam's thinking the battery was just dead, the CCA was a little low. Rated for 800cca, test showed 662cca. They put it on a charger for 10 minutes or so and got it up to 734cca. They say the battery is fine.

Put the battery back in the truck, reading 14.97volts when running, so it should be getting charged, not sure why it was low.

Does anyone know if the clicking I'm hearing is a relay, or is that the starter?

I would start with a new battery first and see If that fixes the starting issues. These newer electronics require a certain voltage to work properly and if they don't get I then they start acting up. If your still having starting issues after a new battery then there's something else in the starting circuit that may need to be replaced

FYI, I had jumper cables going off my tractor to the truck battery, high rpm, showing 13.5v on a meter, still not starting now. Starter??

I would check for battery voltage at the main power wire at the starter, and then while cranking, see what the voltage at the signal wire is, if voltage is good, then possibly a starter failing.

Several forum members have had problems with the solenoid ground wire corroding. If this is the case, a replacement starter is in order.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem with my 2018 5.0

I pulled the battery to reset it for 30 minutes one day and the problem went away for over a month, but now it's back
