Used the harbor freight set and they worked just fine. I did, however, lube the threads with a high pressure grease before using.

autozone tool loaner program. This thing is awesome. Put it in my bench vise and used my half inch impact gun. Worked like a dream. This thing is the only reason i chose to do the job myself.
I "rented" this exact tool and actually bent the main shaft when trying to compress my springs. I returned it to AutoZone for my refund and pointed it out, they refunded me the full price anyway. I went to a local suspension shop with my removed struts on a Saturday and got lucky, they had a wall mounted spring compressor and got the springs swapped out. BTW, I was installing Bilstein 6112s on the front and LOVE them!

Shankly heavy duty spring compressor worked great on mine. I needed it to get the stock struts out as well as build the new Bilstein's.

These truck springs are stupid stiff and scary to compress. Nothing like the soft Jeep springs I'm used to dealing with.
Safety first!

Local Ford dealer did mine for about $200. Money well spent for me.
