Default Changing interior LED map/dome lights

Hey y'all,

I searched the forum and only found that the interior led map and dome lights can be replaced by the dealer.
Idk about y'all but the color is like a warm white and I was wanting something like a cool white (6000 K) so does anyone know if we could replace them ourselves instead of going to the dealer?
I'm sure if the dealer carries a cool white LED bulb for the interior then there must be somewhere that we can purchase these bulbs ourselves.
Thanks for the help

I changed the Map/Dome lights out (as well as puddles, bed set, back-ups, license and fogs) on my 2013 and really liked the brighter, bluer light in the interior. Only had the time to glance at the 2015 version so far but they are pretty wimpy compared to my old ride.....I will explore this with tech at dealership while mine is in for cooling seat back hoo ha next week.

HAS anyone broken the code on this already??....We have some very bright owners and service techs on this site.....SuperBright and other suppliers do NOT show a replacement bulb so I am wondering if there is some "magic" Ford has done on the 2015s to avoid owner upgrades for these bulbs!!??

I think GOBLUEJD looked into this and it was explained that the current interior lights are LEDs soldered into place.

So if you want new leds it would be easy to solder different ones in.

I guess, but i think the fact that you have to unsolder the old and resolder the new would scare most people away because its not a super easy swap to do and undo, hence why there isn't much aftermarket support. The way to go would really be to solder some wires to the truck contacts and add a plug so it is now plug-n-play

I'll keep u guys posted on this... currently my truck is out for service having a whole new Moon roof assembly installed with less then 500 miles on it. and I'm going to watch them take out the whole headliner. also check if on the 502 XLT package is there power somewhere in the headliner for adding a homelink/lighted mirror visor as it shocks me these trucks have no mirror nor lights in the visors. My wife is driving me nuts with it lol!

Can't believe I haven't noticed. Does seem strange not to at least have a mirror in the pass. visor.

I'd like to pop out the lens on the map lights to see what type/kind of bulbs are in there. I just don't want to apply too much pressure trying to pop it out and break them.

I bought some map light replacement bulbs that are supposed to be compatible but they are plug in, not soldered ends.

I read this post earlier and was scratching my head. I have a 2015 Lariat SCAB. 500 mi. I had to run out to look but I have lighted mirrors in both visors.

Lariat vs XLT for lights/no lights.

My XLT has mirrors in both visors.
