Split Bodywork??
Don't know if I already mentioned, but my guy said it could have been rested on something.

I think you're gonna be SOL, but the dealer that did it should fix it. Granted you'd have to prove that they did it, which it definitely looks like it got dropped. What were they doing that they had the bed off? I've got a section of mine repainted and an emblem replaced that got broken when the truck went out for a spray in bed liner.
They removed the bed (at least I was told that they did) to adjust the rear bumper (it was crooked), the bed itself (wasn't centered), and the tailgate (wasn't centered). They also had to remove and repaint the tailgate since it was chipping it's own paint off (since it was misaligned).
Sorry for any bad grammar there. There were a lot of things and a lot of factors for the original visit. They had the truck for four days for God knows what. Clearly they caused a bit of damage that I didn't notice before.
they will if Ford says to fix it, and ford will require the offending dealer to pay them. I had similar issue on a Chevy truck years ago, and when i told General Motors corporate i wasnt going to let the original dealer touch it again, they told me to find one i liked and they would handle the rest

Hopefully with enoigh support here, ford may come around.
To answer your question specifically:

But yeah, I'd push to get them to do it. For my repair work I had to call the shop I chose down here (5.5 hours from where I bought the truck) daily to get them to deal with it. My dealer, who was paying, was shocked as they hadn't been getting anything from the dealer down here. Finally got it in after I started playing middle man. Point is, borderline annoying may get you somewhere with this issue.
Getting in touch with them is next to impossible. GM there promised me something over a month ago and still hasn't sent it. Called several times and always some excuse. Also guaranteed they will deny it outright and won't budge.
Hopefully with enoigh support here, ford may come around.

Would you mind telling us the name and location of this dealership ?
They also could have backed into something and bent the bumper into the body and then replaced the bumper hoping you didn't notice. It looks to me like thats damage from the bumper getting smashed into the body. If it were dropped on that corner I think you would have more dent/paint issues.

I would LOVE to seeing that I've already left two HUGE complaints against them with Ford, but this is a very litigious country, lol! This dealership would sue me first chance they get because of the complaints I've left, I could almost guarantee you that. But I will tell you who has been good so far to me: Five Star Ford of Lewisville. I would have bought my truck from them but found the better deal elsewhere. I'm not 100% endorsing Lewisville just yet but so far they've been incredibly kind and helpful (at least the body shop manager has to me).
Anyway, I've also come to learn that in general Ford is rather difficult to deal with. There is this heirarchy where no one really knows who the person above them is. I requested to speak directly with the licensing department for this dealership, and they told me that "it doesn't have a public face to speak with." I was also told that their licensing review only accounts for called in complaints, not the hundreds left online...?! The body shop manager yelled at me guys when I commented about a workmanship issue. She said it didn't exist, and continued to remind me that I was wasting her time because she wanted to go home. Absolutely crazy! Another body shop noticed workmanship issues without me saying anything, and now we're questioning what happened to the vehicle when it was left in their possession because of thousands in damage.

Ford has nothing to do with it. Truck was at a dealership for a tailgate warranty issue and the dealership damaged it. End of story. The dealership that damaged it is the only one who would be responsible for fixing it. Bring coffee and/or donuts when you talk to the shop manager. Be nice. Again, Ford MoCo has no responsibility, nor does any other dealer other than the one that fixed the tailgate.
