Default Speedometer is off by a couple MPH

My analog speedo is a couple MPH behind the digital one. Does anyone know of a cause and a fix? FORSCAN maybe? My truck is a 2016 Lariat 2.7Ecoboost, and the tires are 275/55R20. Not sure if the tires are stock rubber or replacements as I bought it used. Thanks.

Does your truck default to kilometers? Mine is off because they didn't put the needle in the correct position when they installed the US overlays after importing back from Canada.

Oh that’s probably it! My truck was imported from Canada. Did you solve yours?

My analog is off by a couple. Has been since new. I use the digital all the time so don't worry about it. The digital is right on with my gps.

All speedometers can be off by 2-3% from the factory. It is the nature of the beast.

You're right, but that's not the point of this thread. No matter how far off they are from the factory the digital readout and analog one should still read the same as one another. I'm guessing 'flamingtaco' hit the nail on this one, since on the Canadian trucks, 100km/h has the needle straight up. That's about 62mph, so it all seems to add up to what he's said.

Just for the record, that's the stock tire size so there's no issues there.

I'm interested in this also. I just found out today that the truck I bought earlier this week was originally a Canadian truck...

The manufacturers calibrate the speedometer tolerance to read high, so the 2-3% value means it should read 1.2-1.8 MPH higher not lower. I am not certain if Ford uses the same values, but when I had my 2004 Ford F350 the factory tolerance was 0-7%. The accuracy of most new cars compared to GPS lends me to believe the tolerance is much tighter now.

You can easily tell if the needle was not aligned properly during import... where does it sit one the truck is started and is not moving? Mine sits away from 0 exactly the amount it is off.

You can default the truck to US with Forscan so it starts up with mph each day.
