I took mine in to get calibrated and the dealership was not able to do it. The hypertech is the only option, and it is tied to that vehicle so you can not use someone else's on your truck.

Seems crazy to me that an aftermarket company is able to adjust the speedo but the dealerships are not!

It was going to be the same price for me to either buy the Hypertec or have the dealership do it. I bought mine and I'm glad I did. I entered the tire size on the Hypertec and tested the speed against a GPS and it was off.

I have 34.1" tires and had to set the Hypertec to 32.75 for it to read the correct speed. It's worth doing if you want your speed, odometer, and MPG readings to be correct.

This might be in my head but it seemed to fix the gearing - more specifically the shift point from 5th to 6th. Probably has something to do with perceived speed and actual speed.

Default Dealer can't do it

I just went to my dealer today and they hooked up their programmer and said there is no options for them to adjust the speedometer. They are contacting ford to see if there is an update. Since I bought the vehicle there they only charge $50. That would be much better than $229 for the hypertech option. I have 325 tires and the speedometer is 5 mph off according to my garmin gps app.

My dealer basically had a Hypertec. If you can get them to do it for $50 that would be awesome. Just make sure you test it after they calibrate it.

Hi Stephan Hosterman,

What's the current mileage on your truck? I'll see how I can help keep that speedometer accurate.

Also, anyone run into issues with Warranty where a dealer might try to claim you have more miles than actually show?

you don't have to do anything to the wiring, it comes with an OBD2 cable that you plug in
and it's super easy to program, go on their wise and there's videos that show you how
for the measurement my calculation came up with 114 inches and divided it by 3.14 witch gave me 36.00 so it took me a few tries to set the right ratio, so i ended up with 35.50, i had my garmin gps to verify my speed and it was spot on

just remember if you're gonna take your truck in for service, on the calibrator there's an option for set back to factory and i suggest you do that so that if for what ever reason the service department decide to plug in their scanner they're able to read the computer, if you don't do that they may not be able to ready it and may say you've tempered with the programming and may void the warranty
it's easy to set back the ratio once you leave the dealership
