Default Speaker comparison

There's been a lot of discussion lately about speaker swaps & upgrades. I recently upgraded my front 6x9 speakers with Infinity Kappa 693.11i, the quality comparison wasn't even close not to mention the sound difference. Well today I pulled my rear 6.5" speakers & was shocked at the lack of quality. I took a comparison shot of the rear of the OEM speaker next to the Infinity Kappa 62.11i I'm replacing them with. Note how the OEM magnet is literally the size of a quarter with a flimsy plastic bracing.

I was waiting for someone to say that little magical word....lol. In fact that magnet IS NOT a Neodymium magnet. They are very powerful so size isn't required....however this magnet will barely hold a screw against it, there's no way it's a Neodymium magnet. They OEM front 6x9's were Neodymium, they would attract anything in sight & stick very well to metal. These crappy little magnets on these OEM 6.5" won't hardly stick to anything. I'm not even going to get into the flimsy paper cone with styrofoam surround & voice the size of a .50 piece.

In fact, the rear isn't even magnetized. The actual magnet is inside & is literally the size of a quarter like I said.

Sorry if I missed it in your earlier post, but did you keep the factory tweeters with your new 6x9's? I am torn between going with Infinity 6.5 components or the speakers you used but was concerned that placing the tweeters down low might reducing the sound imaging. Thoughts?

I kept my factory tweeters that are located on the A-pillars. There is no ill effects from keeping them & running them along side the Infinity 6x9's with the built in tweeters. The OEM tweeters are now almost like a mid tweeter which compliments the super high Infinity tweeters.

Infinitys can sometimes be a bit bright, so having the tweets a bit lower might not hurt and might soften them a bit.
