Default Spare Tire Question

I just looked at my spare tire for the first time. It is a different tire than what is on the truck. It is a GoodYear but different type, It is also 17" whereas my wheels are 20". It is full-sized though. Is this how these are supposed to be? I would think they would be the exact same tire albeit on a steal/cheapy wheel.

Oh, do they have TPMS in them?

OK - I looked at the door it matches. It is also an 18" not a 17" I got up with a light.

This post reminds me I need to check the air pressure on that tire. Hope the darn valve is facing down, so no need to lower/remove the darn thing. If it's facing up, will leave it alone, at least for now. I carry a small compressor (DynaPlug), in case it's needed and it's low (most likely). And yes, also carry a flat tire repair kit, which I prefer to use than the spare (due to no TPMS), but it's good to have both options, and that the tire is full size.

I just checked my spare tire pressure for the first time after having my new truck for a month. It only had 31 lbs in it. My truck recommends 55lbs on the door frame.

Yours is probably matching aluminum due to the HDPP

The valve stem is facing up.

I guess I am the only one who pulls the spare down and checks it in at least an annual basis. Check to be sure the crank system works and lube it and check the tire pressure.
