Sorting out year differences
Hello
I'm in the market for a recent-vintage (2015-2020) used F150. I've been trying to sort out any substantive differences in those years or if there are any years to avoid. In digging around this forum, it seems body style and material is the same but there might have been a change in the generation of engine. The other differences are smaller features like screen size and nav features. Do I have that right? Maybe there is a page or thread that covers this, but I didn't find it.
If it matters, I am looking for a 4x4 SuperCrew with the 2.7 v6 and 5.5 or 6.5 bed.
TIA

2015-2017 2.7 came with 6 speed transmission and the engine was direct injection only. 2018-2020 2.7 comes with 10 speed transmission and the engine is direct injected and port injected.
I believe Sync 3 was added in the 2016 model.

I do not remember the 2017 Platinum 3.5 having auto start during my test drive. Or it was so seamless that I didn't know it was there.
Also, the 2017 3.5 had a 10 speed transmission, did the 2.7 not get the 10 speed in 2017?

The OP stated he's looking for a 4x4 SuperCrew with the 2.7 v6 and 5.5 or 6.5 bed. I'll keep my comments to that configuration.
First, I don't think the 2.7 is available in 4x4 with the supercrew and 6.5 foot bed. The 5.5 is the longest you can get in Supercrew configuration regardless of year. (again, with the 2.7).
All 2.7 equipped trucks have stop start, starting with the 2015 models. That has not changed for the 2.7 trucks regardless of year.
2015 trucks will have Sync. 2016 and up will have Sync 3. The 2016's may need to have the USB ports replaced to use Apple Car Play, but will work fine if you use Android Auto (as I do).
There is a batch of 2016 2.7 trucks with bad heads and a TSB on it. Those should have shaken out by now one would think...
2017 BLIS equipped trucks get trailer coverage added. 15 and 16's disable BLIS when a trailer is connected.
2018 adds the 10 speed transmission and the 2.7 gains dual injection (and 25 more hp).
Those are things I can think of specific to the 2.7 (and based on my truck - a 2016 2.7 Supercrew 4x4, Sport, FX4, Trailer Tow, and BLIS equipped. 58,000 miles on it today, and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat).
