Default Sony System

I'm planning a test drive this week. I'd like to listen to a few specific songs to evaluate the premium Sony system. Is it best that I have that data on my phone or on a USB device? This will be one of the determining factors on a 17 or 18.

I think USB sounds best, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. The system is good, but not great.

If the audio system is fairly high on your priority scale you might wait. Bang & Olufsen will soon be a option.

No guarantee on the B&O speakers either. As evidenced by the Sony system, brand name OEM system components are often not as good as the same brand retail components.

I've heard several B&O systems in vehicles and all have been impressive.

Has anyone just swapped the door speakers with higher quality units? Usually the amps in these OEM systems are fine, but the speakers are crap.

I'm comparing against my 07 with the premium system and subwoofer. I've been very pleased with it. With songs on a USB device is it easy to cycle through them?

That was the biggest thing I noticed in our Lariat is how crappy the Sony system is. And I'm even comparing it to my 2008 Expedition.

That's very disappointing to hear.

Definitely recommend the USB over bluetooth. I'm not sure what version of bluetooth these trucks run, but only the very latest version is really CD quality. Plus my phone is always forcing stupid inflated-bass EQ whenever I stream.

I'm excited to hear the B&O system as well, but it's worth noting that the branding is actually B&O PLAY which is Bang & Olufsen's 'budget friendly' brand. Still premium, but the reviews on other B&O Play products don't seem to set the standards quite like the traditional Bang & Olufsen products. I still have high hopes, though. But the Sony system is good; just not amazing. I auditioned the big three for '16 and the Sony system was best-in-class IMO.

Interface-wise, I can't say that I'm overly impressed with the USB organization; namely because of the absence of a "up-one folder" button, making switching artists/albums a PITA. Voice controls help on this front, but I wouldn't call it easy.
