Great question. The truck is always interacting with Ford, I suspect that is why there is dismal battery life from them, 3 years is not uncommon. A download, I imagine it is tied to the BMS and would be equivalent to leaving the radio play 1/2 hr. ??

Big difference from the systems running 3.0 and the systems running 3.4. The old pre 2019 systems were hit and miss with updates via wifi. The 2019+ systems just work.

I have never gotten the wifi update to work, ever. I even parked the truck in my yard, close to a window, with my modem sitting on the ledge of the window. 2019.

Mine, after maybe 5 minutes of the rotating circle, stops and says "Software is up to date." I've never seen it actually apply an update, but it's possible that it's done that when I wasn't watching. I doubt Ford issues many updates for Sync 3.0 or 3.4 anyway. I was happy to get one system update with a new look and a couple new features, and a map update.

2019 here. WiFi updates have never worked for me either. Before I installed the last update with a USB, the "check for updates" feature told me i was already up to date. BS.
