Question Softtopper or Bestop?

Does anyone have any experience with these? Looking at buying one soon but can't find too much info on the F150 version of either.

Any detailed pics on how it attaches to the front of the bed and tailgate would be great too.

Thanks!

I had a Bestop on my '13 F150. It was pretty handy as I used it mostly for road trips.

Not sure about now, but then it just used Velcro to hold the front to the inside of the bed with a rain flap that went over the front of the bed. The rear I can't remember all that well but I believe the sides just zipped down and there was a stiffener that ran across the tailgate, but it's been a while. Hope that helps.

I had the softopper on my previous truck. There are two rails that clamp to the bed rails. Snaps hold the sides. At each corner front and back there are straps that cinch it down to plastic loops on the rails. Mine was good quality and worked well. I will eventually get a new one for this truck

Bestop is very popular in the Jeep community. I have one of their safari tops on my Jeep and it's held up incredibly well.

I had a softtopper on my 2006 Ridgeline for nearly 10 years.

I loved it... used it as needed for the first couple of years.. then left it on for the last couple of years... it leaked during heavy rains, but it was a result of the unusual body lines of the Ridgeline. During a winter freeze, the back window cracked... and the window became discolored after some time in the sun...

The replacement windows is about $70

Although it has some minor issues, the benefit of having full use of the bed is what I was looking for. (As compared to a tonneau cover)

Yes I travel quite a bit and need some coverage on the back of the truck and I like the versatility of being able to take it off relatively easily. I was looking at the TACO forums since both seem to be way more popular in that community and it seems pretty split between the two as far as quality goes. I kinda like the idea of windows but at the same time I don't like you have to take them out to put it down....

Does/Did anything permanently attach to the truck itself?

For the softopper the only thing that permanently attaches to the truck would be the snaps on the front of the box. Alternatively you can use Velcro strips but for those of us in cold locales the snaps hold better.

I've had one on my Tacoma and now the F150, really handy. It added tons of additional packing space for my summer trip and didn't take much room in the garage when removed.

i didn't have the front snaps on mine. Maybe that is a newer design? I ran mine with the front panel off so my dogs could poke their heads through the back window! Even when it rained not much made it in the bed area. Especially when moving on the road.

Trying to find out if the Bestop SKU: 7630935 that is listed for the 2017 5.5 ft. bed will fit on a 2018? Is there any difference in the beds of the 2017 vs. 2018 f-150? I really want to get a soft top for my 2018 but there doesn't seem to be much info on what fits it.
