Default Soft paint

Anybody have any experience getting the dealership to deal with this? I don't drive very much, I've had my truck a little over a month and have close to 500 miles on it. There are 11 or so paint chips on the front end of my white 2016 Platinum. When I got it from the dealership they had to keep it for a few days to fix other paint chips it already had.

I would expect that much from highway driving behind trucks but I work from home and most of my driving has been just around town.

They gave me a touch up pen and told me to live with it. I would like to put a film on the front end but I want the paint to be perfect first.

Look into a bug shield and clear protection film for the paint from 3m or Xpel. The paint issue is not limited to Ford. Tougher restrictions from the government have left us with paint that just plain sucks. The newer low VOC paints just don't hold up as well.
Take a look at the dodge forums, the guys with trucks built in Mexico are finding the paint holds up better than the paint on the USA trucks. ( different regulations)

I had my 3/4 of my truck repainted due to this. During the winters here they use small gravel & sand on the highways instead of salt. 10000 Rock chips would not have been an understatement. It had 7000 Km on the odometer when it went in for paint.

Happens across all manufacturers. You should see the Lamborghini and tesla forums. It happened to your last vehicle, it will happen to the next. The paint today is no softer or less quality than it was yesteryear. People will tell you paint used to be quality back in the day. No it wasn't. It was just as bad as it is now. People just forget the massive warranty/recall complete paint jobs of the 80's and 90's.

Much of it is an application issue. And not a quality issue. You can use high quality paint, but it can be applied wrong. Remember the massive paint warranty on the crown Victoria/gran marquis paint that happened all the way up to 2011? That was due to an application issue. Color right over ecoat. It won't have very good adhesion or uv protection. One rock chip was all you needed on those for the paint to just fly off

From what I have heard the EPA has limited and even banned certain chemicals (talking paint still). Maybe those harsh chemicals not used today made the paint a little more quality back then.

What do you consider "back then?" Paint has been chipping and peeling easily for the better part of 40 years.

Sorry, but i don't believe you. There's no way a 13 year old vehicle doesn't have a single rock chip

I bet there are some 13 year old high end exotics with like 1000 miles or less that don't have them! :-)
