Sirius Radio Gripes

It's APPALLING that Ford still uses the Sirius technology for their satellite radio receivers, where as every other OEM is using either XM or SiriusXM technology in their receivers.
SiriusXM/XM is a far superior audio codec, which is why every other car made today sounds way better with satellite radio.
There is no fixing this in the Fords. This is not a speaker problem.
If you want to look for yourself, here is a link from SXM with the modes supported per car.

Guess once you get older the quality of the sound becomes imperceptible. I've had Sirius or XM since they started and to be honest I could never tell the difference in sound quality. Most of the stuff I listen to has been remastered and never would sound as it originally did. Seldom listen to on air radio, they could leave it out of the system and it wouldn't bother me much. I travel enough that I seldom venture off Sirius. When I do, it's to listen to my MP3's.
As for reception, when it does drop out, I'm always at the same location. And my daughters Caddy does exactly the same thing in the same place. Or, I should say it did. We both moved out of south Florida. When traveling, I guarantee you the FM will drop out every fifty miles!
I my opinion, vehicle systems are good enough. I wouldn't want them running the price of a new truck any higher just to hear one more note. But I grew up in 55 and 57 Chevy's with AM only. Todays stuff is pretty darn nice!

My new XLT sat radio seems to be far superior than the 07 Lariat I just traded in.....
Just my observation -- simple example is when I park my truck in the garage it holds the signal were my 07 would drop almost instantly...
I'm completely satisfied with the radio in my 2016.

I will 2nd this. I replaced mine and now almost no drops unless I'm under a bridge for more than 5 seconds.
