Last week, we had a lot of snow here making the roads pretty narrow. I made a quick stop and parked my 2016 f150 on the street, came out a few mins later and my side view mirror got clipped and pushed all the way forward.
The glass and function of the mirror are fine except for folding it in is a little wonky and it doesn't always sit straight after folding it back out.
Dealer wanted $460 plus tax to replace it. So far I've found one for $192 plus tax/shipping from an online parts dealer. Dealer will instal for $115 but was wondering how hard of a job it would be for me to install it myself. I've looked on you tube but haven't found anything for a 2015+.
Anyone replace one themselves and and have some information to share?
The little black plastic part on the inside of the door behind the mirror pops right off with a "cat claw" tool. Once that comes off, 4 10mm bolts and a quick disconnect and it comes right off. BE SURE that if you buy new mirrors that they have the same options as the units that come off of your truck because the fancier (at least the tow mirrors do) have a 22 pin connector while mirrors like mine (heat and power adjust only) have an 8 pin connector. Takes 10 minutes per, tops. Don't let them bone you for that much for that work.
He's removing the whole panel in this video, but at the beginning he removes the "little black plastic piece" I spoke of in the post above. Not what you're doing exactly, but it'll show you how easy everything is to get to.

Thanks. I asked the dealer for the part number (Part Number: FL3Z-17683-CB) and have used that to search for the mirror. I have an XLT 302a, power adj, heated, auto dimming.
I am planning to replace my XL mirrors with the same 302A mirrors (power adj, turn signals, defrost and auto dimming). Hopefully they should be delivered today, got a deal for $275 for both mirrors and taken off practically new. Hopefully a screw driver will work popping off the cover. I have the tool he used but it is at my parents house.

Honestly you don't need any tool, just some finger strength lol. If you use a screw driver just wrap it in a tool or something to keep from marring the plastic.

Probably similar to the clips holding the radio bezel, so that should be easy then. That video posted did help since it explained where the clips are.
