Default Side View Mirror Replacement

So an idiot neighbor of mine just knocked off my side view mirror...well the housing is still there but it's cracked and the mirror is completely busted/off. I'm trying to decide whether to go with insurance (I'd rather not do this since my deductible is $500) or get a replacement mirror and do the work myself. Anyone change their side view mirror? Was it difficult? Tbh, I'm not much of a diy'er so I might have to just suck it up and call my insurance and file a claim against hers.

I was not there at the time it happened, my aunt let me know and took her info down and took pics.

They're pretty easily replaced. You'll remove one door panel (not even the whole panel), remove 3 bolts, unplug the mirror, plug in the new mirror, replace the bolts, and snap the panel back on. I did one on my '07 and it took me around 30 minutes in the cold.

Skip to 0:45 on the video, it will show removing the panel that I am talking about and how it will look behind the panel. It's pretty straight forward. When I did it before I did not use any special tools. I've always just used my hands and gotten fingers behind whatever to get it to pop up. Just be careful not to break the plastic, but it is pretty tough stuff so it shouldn't be very easy to break.

Yup, inside panel snaps off. Three bolts. Really couldn't be any easier.

On my 2016 there are 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Would assume the 2015 is the same.

If you can wait a little, I'm about to begin swapping my mirrors in my truck so I'll have my OEM mirror for sale (with 200 miles on them). Floods, dimming, harnesses, everything... 2016 Sport XLT

Edit: I have all the parts to do the job, I am just working on figuring out the re-pin I need to do.

I stand corrected.

I must admit it's been awhile (9 months) since I switched the mirrors. 3 bolts, not two is what I thought I remembered. Even easier!

My truck came with tow mirrors. I bought a set of the regular mirrors and use those until I tow the toy hauler. Just about time to switch them for the big camping trip. That's how quick and easy it is to switch them. 10-15 minutes taking your time.
