Side Steps with Dogs

Side Steps with Dogs
I have just installed the Rough Country 2.5 leveling kit to my 2015 f-150 supercab and now the wife wants to add a side step to help he in and out, I wouldn't mind it now actually. But the issue I have is the dogs getting in and out of the back seat. Has anyone had any issues? The are both medium sized between 50 ad 70 lbs, and are currently young but was thinking as they get older. I was looking at the nerf boards that the steps drop down a bit like the ICI Magnum RT Step Bars. but didn't know if this would cause the dogs issues. I was also looking at possibly adding just the step to the drive and passenger doors, but not sure if that would look as good.

I have the factory steps, been trying to teach my dog to use them (90lb chocolate lab, last truck didn't have steps) but he doesn't seem to care yet. I'm sure they'll be usable for him as he gets older.
But, by the time he has trouble jumping up into the truck the steps probably won't help him much anyway.

My guy doesn't seem to have a problem with them being in his way on the way in, but he's got pretty long legs for a lab.

I have an 85lb Plott Hound that is almost ten years old. His back legs are not quite what they used to be for jumping up into/onto things. He uses the side steps to get into the truck. Without them I would have to grab his *** as he jumped to make sure he wouldnt hit his back legs (I have to do this for him when he tries to jump into the bed, he may be old, but he is determined)

One of my dogs has bad rear hips and she puts her front paws on the factory steps and I just lift up her rear end, she's about 65 lbs.
I would recommend door sill adhesive protectors to protect the paint from them scratching it up.

This is something I didn't really need to worry about with the silver Ram but I should probably think of investing in them for this race red ford.
