Do you get this "clunk" in 4A/4H as well? If so, you've got something more/else going on as has been mentioned.

Default I fixed mine!

No more IWE issues with my truck. It was a pretty easy fix. Since 2011, I have owned three fords 2011 ranger, 2015 F150 2.7 and my last truck 2018 2.7 crew. I can say I did enjoy my trucks. I overlooked the frozen door latches the rear end bang, that I heard each afternoon climbing my steep gravel driveway. My first experience with the IWE problem was last May. Had the truck in my local shop three times. First time. “We don’t know what it is, since it’s quite now” 2nd trip “everything is okay, your vacuum pressure is normal” third trip replaced vacuum lines. Told me it was safe to drive. Family vacation heading south on I95 IWE went out. This time for good! Made for a very rocky drive 400 miles to the beach. Local dealership in NC was great about fixing it. He know what the problem was and how to fix it. Well that repair last two months. So off to the RAM dealership! Now before everyone starts hating, I drove Dodge rams for 14 problem free years. Why I ever switched to ford. Maybe I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Now I know! Ford sells junk!

And yet, here you are, reading a Ford forum and ****posting. Go back to your Dodge forum, where you can talk to your buddies about how much better the HEMI is and how real trucks don't have 6-cylinder engines (oops, except for Cummins!)

The best thing about Dodge trucks is they make super cool mirrors that you can over extend to make your truck look exceptionally stupid.

Kidding. I'm only sort of brand loyal. I've purchased Fords since I was 22 many years ago. Before that I was driving Ford vehicles before I bought my own. Parents had non Fords for a while, the vehicles I learned to drive with.
I had a GMC for 8 years before this F150. I didn't want the GMC but at the time it fit the bill. Now in my 3rd F150 since 1993 and only 4 trucks.

I couldn't care less what somebody else drives but the maturity level really shows when their 2nd post on a Ford forum is to tell somebody they like another brand.

I suppose I should register on a Dodge forum just so I can say how bad their large mirrors are, then never show up again?

As for IWE, there have been an unreasonable amount of failure, however here are people without a problem. I friend purchased a 2016 Platinum with 50,xxx miles a few months before before I got a 2016 Lariat with 64k. I think I've got an IWE issue, he doesn't even know what that is. The other newer F150 in my work lot have not reported issues either. My 2003 never had a problem with it either. Not sure if 2003 had vacuum operated hubs though like today's design. I believe they did.

I would love it if there was an option for manual locking hubs. I don't need then locked all the time but in snow or mud I woudk have no trouble to manually lock them.

hi,

So is the issue the one of the wheels has the hub engage when IWE fails? Perhaps I should say 1 or more? Would adding a switch to just "turn off" the vacuum such that the hubs are always engaged be considered an IWE delete?

Maybe a different question, is there the issue where the hubs don't engage? My F250 seemed to use the opposite system, they needed vacuum to engage. I just gave up and got out of the truck and manually engaged them.

Sometimes one side or the other, or both. It depends on where the vacuum leak is. As far as a switch, you could always just pull the power at the solenoid, and your IWEs would stay engaged. I wouldn't really call that an IWE delete, more of an IWE defeat.

Ok so quick update, dealership alleges my exhaust manifold is leaking so they're replacing that. Could be a source of vacuum problems perhaps?
