One time or ???
Make sure you clear all three PCM options. Clear Transmission Adaptive Tables, Reset all Adaptations, and PCM reset module. Have had my 2018 since new and finally broke down and got forscan a little over a year ago after having annoying hard downshifts and clunky shifts. It's been perfect for over a year now.

Checking to see if Brent or Kkrazy has an update on their repairs since their January 2023 post. Unfortunately I am having very similiar problems in which I will liste below. Lots of good info on this thread (and this forum) - I appreciate all the help I've had so far.
My scenerio:
2017 XLT 4x4 3.5 Eco with 101,000 miles. Purchased used about 6 months ago with 97,000 miles. I had the transmission serviced at 100k miles.
First shift of the day - 1 to 3rd, hits hard. Second time thru the gears it gets better, and later it smooth as the fluid temp comes up. Note - I could live with this if this was the only issue, but...........
Shifts 6 to 7th and 8th to 9th seem like they are kicking into neutral, rpms rev and vehicle slows down quickly. I can let off the gas and the gear will eventually kick in and continue forward. Occasionally the 8 to 9 shift will drop all the way 1st gear, rev up, and then bang in 9th gear. The wrench icon has only flashed up one time for 5 seconds. I am not getting any other codes through Forscan. I have cleared the TCM once about 200 miles ago but it seems to make it worse.
Hoping to get some resolution as I do not feel safe driving this vehicle currently.

I took mine in to the dealer for harsh shifting and all they did was reset my transmission adaptive learning table.. The shifting was worse after they did that so I got on the google machine and started doing a little research and found a re-learn procedure that the dealer never informed me of.. I'd be surprised if they even knew of it... I would also be surprised if this was even done right from factory or the dealership where I purchased it... However after completing this procedure even just 4 times instead of the 6 suggested, my shifting has much improved and has so far worked for me!
Find a nice quiet long street or road that allows you to reach these speeds comfortably...
1. Drive the vehicle until the engine and transmission reach normal operating temperature.
2. Accelerate from a stop with light throttle (15%) ensuring that upshifts 1st through 8th occur at engine speeds between 1300-1600 rpm.
3. Continue to accelerate (may apply slightly more throttle after 7-8 upshift at 32-38 mph (51- 61 km/h) until you achieve 55 mph (88 km/h) and the 8-9 and 9-10 shifts complete.
4. Brake very gently to a complete stop and hold foot on brake for five (5) seconds.
5. Shift the transmission to Neutral. Wait 1 second.
6. Shift the transmission to Reverse. Wait 2 seconds.
7. Shift the transmission to Neutral. Wait 1 second.
8. Shift the transmission to Drive. Wait 2 seconds.
9. Repeat Steps 3 through 8 six additional times.

Yesterday evening, I did pull the negative battery cable off and waited 15 minutes like an earlier comment suggested. All the radio presets were gone and recent trip info was gone (not a probelm in my book, easy fix) - so I assume I did the steps correctly. Went for a test drive and had the same issues while the transmission was cold (or first 2 or 3 times through all the gears).
I plan on going for another test drive this evening (I have an old car I run back and forth to work in).

Appreciate the reply. Would you happen to know what rolling from N to R to N to D does (steps 5 thru 8)?
