Default Service Engine Soon Warning- Possible Fuel Injector Problem

2020, 5.0, 14,700 miles

CEL came on during my drive home from the grocery store, about 3 miles. The truck shook, violently, under normal acceleration during the trip to the store.

FordPass app says it’s a fault with a fuel injector or it’s related wiring. I don’t have a way to scan it. I checked the injector pigtails, and everything looks good. I have scheduled service, but it’s going to be after the holidays.

Anyone have issues with injectors this early on?

Appears that "Engine Control System has detected a fault with one of the vehicle's fuel injectors and or its associated wiring." If you are still under warranty, do NOT drive it (possible excess fuel to cat), let your dealer scan it to determine which specific cylinder and find exact issue(s) (injector or wiring) and FIX it.

I bet a restart will put it back to normal for a bit! Usually happens that way

Fuel injectors fail about as often as a coil which is almost never.

Start it up and see if it still has issues. The misfire could be something unrelated to an injector or coil. If so, let the shop take a look (is it warrantied)?

It's under warranty, just call your dealer.

The cylinder in fault should show up in Mode 6 and misfire counts test # per cylinder if not seen any other way or by a code.
Just don't keep driving with the condition returning.
Cats are in short supply these days.
The A/F sensors are also pricey if they get burned.

Yea, it’s under the factory warranty. I was just curious if injectors failing were a thing with the 5.0. It’s going to the shop next week.

To be clear, it could be the injectors, the wiring or the PCM. The PCM monitors the injectors' circuits and can detect a fault. A fault could be an electrical failure with the injector itself, a wiring issue to the injector, or a PCM fault. A fault does not necessarily mean that an injector is stuck open/commanded open and dumping fuel into the cylinder(s) as it could be a broken circuit or injector causing no fuel to flow for that cylinder.
