Default second thoughts on an f150

I'm new to this forum. I have always wanted an F150. Test drive one a few years ago, but never purchase it. I'm suppose to pick up one tomorrow at the dealership. I'm having second thoughts on reading about the 5.0 L engine noise "knock issue". I know this is a forum, and is where some people bring up the negative things about the truck, but I also think it is justify if it is excessive. The truck I'm buying only has around 4000 miles and is a service or test drive vehicle. Its an xlt 4 wheel drive 2020 model. Does this issue effect the longevity of the vehicle? Also how much is the extended warranty if I choose to get one after the standard 36000 is out?

Running premium fuel (91+ octane) eliminates the knock.

I have 45k on mine, no problems. I think only you can make that decision. Your money. It sounds like you're really concerned. It you aren't going to be happy with the truck, don't buy it. Go look at the tundras. They aren't perfect but it sounds like that would be more your speed.

All you can do is go with your gut. Ford says the noises are normal and more related to the high-pressure injectors. I assume you are talking about noises at idle as opposed to spark knock. Premium fuel will prevent that, but having to run premium may also be a deciding factor as well.

I think the extended warranties are around $2K if you buy them direct. There are members on this forum that can help you and sell them much cheaper than what the dealership will offer.

$2000 is not bad at all, but yes the premium gas will affect my decision as gas prices have gone way up. Thank you!

I just bought a 2020 xlt 3.5 EB and bought a ford esp warranty from Zeigler Ford. I used coupon code PAYINFULL and I got a 7 year 100k with $100 deductible for $1340.

My 18 with 5.0 had around 3500 miles on it when I got it. Got a great discount, I did buy the 5 year 150K mile ESP as I drive a lot. Mine makes some noise but has never let me down. It does have quite a bit of detonation knock if I run less than premium fuel especially when it is really hot outside.
