We only have 2 seasons down here. Hot, and not-quite-as-hot.
Haha. Good point. I am referring to the season of raindeer, snowmobiles, and idiotic drivers, who forget how to drive in snow year after year.

I have always ran Blizzaks. Have found them pretty good over all, but at 1/2 tread life they start to lose traction. I used to run Blizzak DMV, last year they came out with Blizzak DMV2s, I needed new winter tires so I got some, I have found they are better on ice than the originals.

My dad runs the Bfgoodrich KO2 and loves them, my wife runs the michelin x ice 3 on her escape and they are great.

I think the biggest thing is just running any good quality winter tire. If it is a quality tire (pretty much any tire talked about in this thread) it will perform 100x better than an all season.

I've already got my winter tires on. And summer tires. It's south Texas.

those folks? they relocate down here to Florida during the winter, and forget how to drive, period. Rain? Shoot. That's worse.

My summer tires, but I live in FL. Our seasons are rainy season, non rainy season, and snow bird season. (old people that come to FL during the winter months to avoid the snow up north)

Driving on ice requires something to dig into the surface like studs to keep traction at any real speed. Sipes on tires help to keep traction at low speeds, but hitting an ice patch going 30mph or faster, the inertia of your vehicle & loss of traction will win every time. Look for a tire that self cleans the treads & doesn't let snow become packed in them, something with a decent amount of siping also. Not much you can do about hitting an ice patch.....

Welcome to the 6ix Where drivers don't know how to drive in winter, summer, spring, or fall.

I'm going to be ordering 17" Bridgestone Blizzaks DM V-2 next week at Costco.

Bumping an old thread. I saw in another thread that you're running the same wheels as I am. Check out this thread to see what I did with them...

Mainly I was curious what pressure you're running in these tires.
