Default Sealing the bed / box

I know this has been brought up before but my '16 supercrew 6.5' box has large gaps around bed floor. It has factory spray in liner but the gap is still noticeable between the floor and the sides of the bed.

I have a revolver X2 tonnneau cover but after driving some dirt roads I have a fine dust creeping in these gaps. The kids bags and stroller are what im most worried about when stored back there.

Im thinking of sealing the gaps. Thoughts on the best product? Outdoor caulking, urethane window adhesive? Has anyone attempted this yet?

I used some Black outdoor silicone caulk, rated for 20 yrs! Looks good, with my Ford sprayed liner, and filled any small remaining gaps. i only had 2 small gaps, on the d.s., and p.s., where the bed post rail caps meet the bed floor.

Bought it at Home Depot for 4.95, for 1 tube!

You did check that it's safe to use on aluminum right? Ford says not to use silicone.

It's your truck, but I really can't stress enough that you should make sure you have the right silicone if you're going to do this. the acetic acid generated during curing will cause aluminum to corrode.

Yes no Acid, in the caulk I purchased. Plus, it's only applied to the liner material, in the bed.

Good deal. Didn't want someone to be heartbroken if they picked the wrong silicone, but it sounds like you've done your homework.

mine had linex, if parked with nose sloped down, it hold gallons of water from the front of the bed to the wheel wells... 3-4 inches deep.

I thought it should drain.. Linex must have plugged it up

I would use automotive urethane or RTV type silicone. The RTV is more metal friendly with most claiming to be non-corrosive on metals.

Mine was a rtv automotive black silicone, without the acetic acid, to speed curing time... I made sure before purchasing!
