??? SCREW or SCAB ???
Questions for the tribe
Who has purchased a SCREW and wish they had gotten a SCAB because they never ended up using the space in practice ?
Who has purchased a SCAB and wish they had gotten a SCREW because they could have used more space ?
What holds a better resell REG, SCAB, SCREW ?
I am looking to get a truck as a 4th vehicle, and struggling with just how often we'd need the space of the SCREW for our family of 5 as we have a mini-van, and a full size car.

Super crew holds value a lot better than the other cab configurations. Heck I'm the only one in my house and I have a super crew, yes they cost a little more however they hold value better
Not the year group you're asking about, but...
Originally bought a SCAB wishing I had a SCREW because I like the doors better, but I rarely see SCREWs with 6.5' beds. I am not getting a truck with a bed shorter than 6.5', period. So, seeing it like that, I love my SCAB.

I did have a crew with the 6.5 foot bed. I don't miss that at all honestly. It was a bear to park sometimes
It comes down to what do you use the truck most often for. If you haul stuff like dirt, gravel, firewood, are always at home depot or are a contractor, but rarely take the family anywhere, you might want to consider the scab.
If you rarely use the bed for anything, but plan on going all over the place with the family, then you'll be glad to get the screw.
I went from a regular cab, 8ft bed to a screw with a 5.5 bed because I don't make heavy use of the bed but once a week or so. I also have a family of 4 now, and it's become the family's go anywhere and do anything truck, to the point where we rarely use my wife's minivan.
You could split the difference and go with a screw with the longer bed, but then you have a frieght train to try to park. That becomes old, especially if you spend most of your life in the city.
I would say the screw has a better resale value at this time, but the scab is very close (almost equal) behind.

I love my SCAB ( 3rd one ) especially this one as the rear doors open almost 180 degrees. which makes loading grocery's easy in a parking lot as well as cleaning and vacuuming. I also like the longer bed as my 05 had a short bed which wasn't enough for me
I bought a SuperCab and wish I went with the crew. Parking a truck, short of an RCSB, is always going to be less convenient than a sedan or small SUV. For that reason I would buy a 6.5' crew cab if I could go back in time. The extra foot really isn't going to make or break your ability to park and the added space is absolutely worth it.

All comes down to needs, if it's a family hauler and not much bed usage, go with the the 5.5 ft bed, if you need a lot of bed space and a family hauler get the 6.5 ft w the hdpp. For me, my parking situation warrant no screw with 6.5 ft bed, I use my bed more than my back seat so I went with the scab w 6.5ft
If there is any difference in resale between a Crew and Super Cab, which I doubt there is, it is negligible enough where I wouldn't base your purchase off of that. Having had both and an Edge in between, the biggest thing for me was the new crewcabs essentially having as much cargo space with the seat up as my Edge had. I feel like I have an SUV with an additional bed.
