I think it's normal for rust in that area. You can see similar rust on the very top of your rotors (where it isn't shiny)

Edit* Brakes will often times rust slightly overnight even after being wet. Comes right off after after the first use of the brakes.

Absolutely normal. You will start to cry little girl tears as soon as you remove a rim to take a peek at the rotor. To get rid of it, well, really can't but you could remove the rim and paint the rotor (please don't paint the shiny part that the pads contact) with caliper paint. Once done make sure you wipe down the shiny part of the rotor by spraying brake cleaner onto a rag and wiping any areas. You don't even want finger prints on that area.

Yes, the rotors will rust. I imagine that if any coating or paint was applied, it might slow the rotor cooling from direct air contact.

Never had that issue as long as it is just the area you see there. My 2005 mustang has 100,000km's on it with original rotors and pads, no issues.

i understand the rotors building rust spots due to moisture at times but i never seen the ring of rust like that on any of my other cars.

This is my first ford ...perhaps its a ford thing lol

Don't want to start a arguing fest here

i wasn't talking about the under carriage of the vehicle...look at where i live ...every vehicle gets killed by snow & salt.

i was jus refering to rust buildup on brand new rotors around the rim i never had that issue on any of my vehicles.

I don't really feel like arguing today either; but I was stating that rust in that spot is normal for all cars- not just fords. When I said under a vehicle i didn't literally mean "under the vehicle". I also wouldn't call it -an issue- it's normal. I am unaware where you live either. But have fun with your 2015 and look out for all the problems it's having.
