Alternately you can take it back and demand a new truck!

first not every dealership employees a bunch of useless d-bags so dont let 1 issue deter you.

secondly i dont know about you guys but i dont spend $50k on a truck to have to fix it..to add stuff to it yes but not to repair it when it has 500 miles on it.

It happens. You can scrape the rust and apply rust arrestor, or get it undercoated. But take note, these methods just slow down the rusting process.

I don't know about anyone else on here but one of the main things I look for when buying a vehicle is rust underneath. And I'm talking about 10+ year old vehicles here. I see all brands of trucks where I live maybe 5-6 years old rusting cab corners and rear fenders then you see some trucks 15 years old with black grease smeared everywhere but no rust... Take it to a reputable undercoat business its under 150$ to protect you 50k dollar rig.

Just wondering does anyone know what the official stance from our Ford Service rep, Brittany, is on this issue??
There seems to be many of us with this surface rust. Myself included as well as the showroom F-150 at my dealership (see pic).

not sure if there is an official ford stance here, what i do know is i spoke to Erika at ford customer service and they told me to take it to my local dealer to get it taken care of. When i went to my dealer they told me they could take pics and send it in but they can almost guarantee they wont do anything about it.. so i plan on calling her back tomorrow to see what my next step would be.

Why are these truck axles rusting so much more than the previous year models? Kinda BS if you ask me

gentz002 it would be great if you could update this thread when you have further details.

Unfortunately I'm starting to think that the only way to have this corrected would have been at PDI... I wish I would have read about this prior to

yeah i will definitely let you know what i come up with. I also wish i would have known to check when i picked up the truck. The body shop manager told me that the axle is so thick that it would probably never be an issue even after 20 years but that isnt good enough when buying a new vehicle if you ask me.

This is the one issue that I think Ford has really failed at. The pride that people have taken in their trucks has been well known for years so to save a few bucks they leave a major piece of the undercarriage unpainted so it will rust. What were they thinking?
