Default Running board sag

I might have missed it due to poor search engine skills (even searching by post) but I am on day three and already notice sag on the stock 6in black running boards on my supercab. My wife is the only one who uses them and is pretty small. Is this a common problem and is there a fix? I notice it on both sides. How hard would it be to add a third support? Could run a bar of steel underneath the running board.

Replaced mine with solid ones instead of the factory ones that are more flimsy. If you go aftermarket there are already mounting locations for a third bracket. Mine came with three brackets and all hardware so there is an extra bracket in the middle now. The studs are already there under the truck to mount them on. Mine are twice as sturdy as oem ones. No sag.

I was under my 16 on the weekend.....noticed only 2 brackets.....3 sets of mounting studs.....must have been part of the 700lbs lighter....you should be able to get at the ford parts counter....sure the parts guy will be glad to sell you something that should have been there...

Ford part site wont let me zoom in on my phone, but all of the pictures show three brackets. Soon as i can find a part number I will call the dealer.

Im not sure there is a place to attach the bracket to the running board though. Running boards are hollow underneath on my xlt

I'm not a huge fan of the look of the boards, but I can say I am 250 and haven't seen any sag in them yet. I don't use them all the time to enter or exit the truck, but I do stand on them with all my weight when I wash the truck. Just replying to OP's original question about quality.

I went with some Paramount Automotive running boards. They only have the two mounts, but they are rock solid.

Spoke with parts guy at dealer. The Scabs come from factory with only the two while the Screws come with the three. I imagine the lack of sag in LKNs post above may be due to the third bracket. I am unsure of the presence of a third bolt location on the Scabs? I saw it mentioned above that they should be there/are there, but was that on Scab or Screw? Either way i have some on order.

I ordered Raptor boards from Morrie. No sag in them!, And less expensive than factory. Twenty minutes to install
