Ruby Red Paint Question for Body Guys
Need opinions from the experienced members in body work.
I own 2015 XLT Ruby Red and I'm contemplating PTM bumpers. Everyone tells me how tricky the paint is so I want to do things right. Now my questions are can I buy used PTM parts that aren't Ruby Red and wind up with a successful result Example gray to Ruby Red which won't effect color matching. Is the work to sand and prep the surfaces not worth the savings of buying new from the dealer (Which I get discount)? Any tricks for Ruby Red painting I should be aware about or just find reliable good body shop?
Tha is in advance, just trying to educate my self a little better before I spend some cashish.

Ruby red is a tricky paint to get right. Takes time & a good painter. Here's a good way of doing it. Pictures are lost due to dumb photobucket.

Would have loved to see the pics! I was going to recommend a good sealer coat, but he nailed every step.
Ruby Red is like a metallic candy apple. The base is easy as long as you dont stripe it, the candy coat is the most difficult, it has to be exact or it will not match.
I love my red rubby, I was running few chores today and I nicked the paint. Anyone have a idea where can I find touch up paint to match? https://youtu.be/OHxBSrefQUs

Pics missing from the thread...
Buying used shouldn't be a problem. Like I mention just use the correct sealer.
As I mention in that thread, the PPG version of this color, is the only one I know of that uses a truly tinted clear. Most other paint manufacturers use a traditional 3 stage approach. Which might work in some places, but you aren't truly reproducing the color as it is from factory

I got it for mine also, but I haven't attempted the chip repair yet.
Get your paint code, or use your VIN and it can be ordered from any Ford dealer. I have had good experiences and pricing on OEM parts here:
