NO, Do not use Dawn.
Get a Car wash soap specifically designed for cars. Yeah I used to do this too. This is how we were brought up washing out cars and trucks.
Over time using Dawn will damage the paint. It will remove wax and and protective things you have put on. High quality waxes can last a couple months. Or just between washings if you use dawn. Like if you do rain X, is can lesson the time. I am assuming you put something on you tires and black parts. Dawn will wash it off. This is what also contribute to your black plastic parts turning white and chalky.
Don't use dish soap. One of over 1000 articles of why not to do this
https://www.consumerreports.org/car-...wash-your-car/
The difference between a good car soap and dishwashing liquid is night and day. You can get like a gallon of MeGuier car soap for $8 a few cents more than dish soap and it will clean your car better and leave you protected.
Actually be careful what wax you get, something like turtle wax has a polishing compound it in. Great for older cars but a new car it is literally putting scratches in it. Get a nice finishing wax. Or even better go with a paint sealant. Lasts longer than wax.

Once the vehicle is clayed and dressed, you should NOT use Dawn or any dishwashing soap when washing your vehicle.

I'm not talking about using Dawn or a dishwashing soap regularily. I'm talking about using it BEFORE claying when you WANT it to remove wax and protective things.

Alternatively, you can wash and clay with car products, and before applying the topping, wipe the entire vehicle down with wax and grease remover, AKA Paint Prep solvent.
