Default "The route calculation has failed."

Lately I'm getting this error message from my nav system anytime I try to enter a destination, favorite or new, outside my home territory (more than maybe 100-200 miles). The error message comes almost immediately after I enter the destination, and the nav system just stops without continuing to try to find a route. When I get closer to the same destinations, navigation can calculate the route no problem. I'm not choosing anything difficult to calculate... at lunchtime I tried one just a couple hundred miles down the freeway I was driving on, as a test. It failed. This has only happened the last couple weeks - before that it was fine and would calculate anywhere I wanted to go. Anyone else experience this, and/or know a fix short of a hard reset?

I've given up on my factory navigation. I connect my phone to the truck with a USB cable and use Siri with google maps. A much more friendly "user experience". I'll be watching with you if somebody has a fix.

Im with Mike on this one. The factory sat nav is garbage. Youre better off using your phone in a mount.

Maps.me App. It's free, always updated, and works even with no data connection when you download the maps to your phone so you don't rely on constantly streaming the data.

That message only comes up when you're near the edge. You know, flat planet and all, and you're close to the edge about to fall off...

I figured out that sometimes if I get that response, if I choose the destination again and wait several seconds before pressing GO, it will calculate the route. But for more than a couple hundred miles, it's just become impossible. Pretty dumb for a nav system in a new truck.

I did a master reset, installed the latest map update, put my radio presets and nav favorites back in... and still getting the route failure thing a lot of the time. Very disappointing.

It may be the APIM going bad. The navigation errors are usually the canary in the coal mine. I had all kinds of weird things happen before I replaced mine. At one point it showed me going in circles in a different state. I think the APIM replacement since I was out of warranty was about $800 on my 2018 truck. All good now. Other things started to go bad at the time also. Screen entry was slow, radio would show one station and play another, the phone would keep connecting over and over. All of those things fixed with new APIM module.

Mine was doing that a couple of months back. I think it was something to do with the GPS. It was happening on my Mom's MKX as well. I just entered an address in her's to South Portland ME and an address in mine in St Paul MN and they both had no problem with it although I'm in AL.

In my case I can speak a point of interest and it just can't understand, loads a dozen wrong places. Connect an Iphone with a USB cable and Siri has no problem understanding and locating the POI the first time, and puts a map up on the 8" screen. All completely "hands-free"
