Default Roush Intake Install

I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has installed an aftermarket intake but for those who have..did you leave those insert that looks like it would generate a "whirlwind" in the intake? Roush recommends to remove them. Wondering if there is an advantage to leaving them in?

I know the response is pretty late... but I took mine out. I think they are just there to prevent noise and make the "whistle" quieter. I don't think they serve any kind of mechanical advantage or other advantage.

If you leave the insert in you'll need to have a tune. I installed a Roush CAI on a mustang 10 years ago and that's what the instruction sheet said.

That doesn’t make sense though because the whirlwind inserts are on the stock air box.... the roush install days to remove them from the stock air system if you want to for a louder sound.... Doesn’t say anything about a tune if you choose to leave them in

unless i missed something in the install instructions LOL

The inserts are called Silencer Rings and serve no real purpose other than to help reduce engine & turbo noise.

LOL, couple days into owning this truck new, I took out the swirly thingies. Noticed no difference in anything, including turbo sound, which is what I wanted. A few weeks ago, out of boredom, I stuck them back in so I didn't lose them. Still, no difference I could perceive in sound, mileage, anything.
