If people were not paying these markups, then dealers would stop doing it. But there are people out there who are willing to pay these amounts, so why wouldn't dealers do it? There was a report out recently of a Toyota dealer selling a Rav4 Prime for $96k because of add ons and a $40k dealer markup. I really hope no one pays that, but if someone does, then the dealer will continue with those markups. It all boils down to willingness to pay.

Yeah, The 60k is MSRP. They can charge 160k for it if they want to. Dont know who would pay it though. But:

HAHA... that's my local dealer. Doesn't surprise me, their lot is practically empty compared to normal.
We haven't actually bought a car from them but I did hit the parts department once on a Saturday morning the the guy behind the counter was really hung over.
