Default Rigid cube lights powered by factory fog sockets?

I got a great deal on an aftermarket bumper and need to swap in a pair of rigid 3" cubes to use for the fog lights. Ideally I'd like to splice on a H11/16 socket onto the Rigid cubes and plug them into the factory harness, so I can use the stock fog light switch. As far as I can tell the truck (2016 xlt) feeds each individual fog light via an output from a BCM and not a fuse or relay.

What is the amperage capability of the fog light outputs on the truck's BCM? From what I've found, all the stock motorcraft H16 bulbs pull around 4-5 amps.

The RIGID cubes each use 2.14 amps, so I should be well under the limits?

Thanks!

You’ll be fine with running them off your stock wiring. Don’t splice into your harness, there’s adapters out there for that. Here’s one version.

I have two sets of Rigid cubes in place of the factory fogs and no issues at all with all four on at the same time...agree with Silverflash22, don't cut the harness.

Some of the newer trucks use a Canbus wiring system that will require you to use on of these:
Anti Flicker

I installed a pair of LED fog lights a little while ago and there is no flicker. Hopefully the RIGID fog light cubes don't behave differently. If they do, maybe forscan could do something?

I recently installed an aftermarket Raptor bumper that came with 5 small LED lights that said to wire them to the day time running lights and the blinker. I chose to wire them into my fog light circuit instead of the day time running. They will turn on then right back off when I turn the truck on and the switch. I’ve been seeing the info about the FET and if it’s over powered it will cut it out. The weird thing is they will work if I put the key in the ACC position. Any ideas?? I’d imagine if it was over powered it wouldn’t work in ACC mode either.

@Bburke82 Throw a relay at it. Fire the relay using the fog light circuit.

How did you end up wiring it to get them to stay on? I just got the same bumper and having the same problem.
