Default Reusable Engine Oil Filter

Hello F-150 Friends,

So I've been researching some really efficient engine air filters (K&N, etc.) and recognized that the media is reusable as long as it is oiled. That got me thinking, why aren't engine oil filters the same way? I think this is a result of the corporations trying to milk hardworking Americans for their money.

Instead of replacing the engine oil filter, I am going to hand wash it with Dawn dish soap and hot water. I will be coating the filter in Publix spray can canola oil, as the viscosity is VERY similar to that of K&N. I will then reinstall the filter into my EcoBoost and report back with results.

Really excited to help save some F-150 owners money!!

Look, not to rain on your parade...but there are tiny particles inside the filter and a filter costs what...$12 for a good one?

Engine oil filters are like condoms...not designed to be used more than once.

Here come the TROLLS on my thread. If I see too many particles in the filter i will use a screwdriver to poke holes in the media so I can wash it out more.

I’m not making this up but they used to make an oil filter system that used toilet paper rolls. My understanding is it worked pretty well.

Had one back in the early 80's. It did work well, until it unscrewed itself from the mount and put 5 quarts of oil all over the street,

Your missing the bit about having to replace the toilet paper roll (as in media). The oil case might last forever, but the media won't.
