I've had 4 windshields replaced over the years, only one of those times it was done right.

You can't make general statements like "Safelite is good" or "Safelite is bad". They have hundreds of locations, and the works is done by thousands of technicians - some good, some bad.

With a lifetime guarantee, they'll fix any issues.

I wouldn't use an independent shop again, did once and was not happy with the work.

In my case it is Safelite.
I have had ZERO information passed on to me from the body shop or Safelite as to any real details to resolution.
I put a call in on Friday, which was 5 business days since the visit to the body shop and as expected I got the "I'll look into this and get back to you" response.
Because the water from the leak will not dry I do not even know if there is still a leak.

I would be all over Safelite. The leaking is an issue they should correct, and normally that means swapping it out for another windshield, rather than applying a sealer, etc. Whether you choose to use them in the future or not, I would definitely make them honor their warranty.

Oh you can bet that it gets resolved, but I'm sure it won't be a hassle free on my end.

i has an issue from factory on an Edge that they wanted to strip the entire interior out because it has molded from leaks in just about every pillar (no moonroof, they said windshield too)

i politely said no thanks the thing has 8k miles and they bought it back.

my ‘16 F-150 got a clogged drain in the moonroof and got in one day to the entire passenger side filled with water. They fixed it and never had another issue.

A Safelite installer told me the aftermarket windshields (that insurance pays for) don't fit as well as a Ford OEM windshield when I had my Escape's replaced. I paid the up-charge for the Ford OEM and have had no issues

It was replaced both times with the OEM glass.
I do not have a sunroof and no water issue till after the 1st replacement.

My experience was nearly opposite of yours. After scheduling a SIX hour time frame, the Safelite tech blew me off with 15 minutes left in the window. Six hours of my life I can't get back to accommodate them. I called them locally, the local manager, the national call center and was either abruptly (local manger) to politely blown off. Then I found they conveniently deny access to feedback ( can't get bad feedback if a potential customer can't post it right?). They are a scam! They have control of the market and proprietary access to the insurance companies. After vehemently complaining to my insurance company I was scheduled with a local shop. They contacted me on their own to verify the truck ensuring the correct windshield and to confirm the appointment. The local installer showed up promptly, they asked a 4 hour window but were there at the start and done in about two, was neat, professional and expedient! SCREW SAFELITE
