Default Replacement Key

Today I was quoted $50 for a replacement key and $100 to program it. Is the simple, non push button style key. Application is 2019 XL. Seems absurd as I wanted 2 or 3 keys. Any options?
Thank in advance for your consideration.

Non-push button? On a 2019? Surely there are lock and unlock buttons on it. If you want just the key, then $50 is high - you can find key blanks online for $20 or less. Then it has to be cut, and programmed. $100 to program it is excessive. If you have two keys, you can program it yourself.

150 for a modern key is not unreasonable.

Honestly that sounds about right. I was quoted $180 from my dealership. I went to a locksmith instead and paid I think $160. I was thinking I’d just buy 3-4 extras as well. Not at that price though! Although I think you can have keys made that will only get you in the vehicle but not start it for a lot less $$$. I may look into that as well.

As stated, if you have two keys, and neither is a MyKey, you can program them yourself, it's in the manual.

Find a local locksmith who does vehicle programming and talk to them about it.

My locksmith charges the same $50 per cut key but only charged the $80 programming fee for the first key. The others are no charge if it's done at the same time.

Be grateful you don't have an Audi. Puppy ate one of my keys and it cost $420 to replace ONE key. And no, locksmiths can't do keys for new German cars.

Did Ford change it so you can't program new keys yourself? My 2015 I can with two master keys, just need to get the new key and have it cut.

I posted that twice in the thread already. I guess some people like paying others to do things they can do for free?
