Default Replacement f-150 tailgate

So I damaged my tailgate today..long story but there's a hole in it..

2015 f150 xlt

Am I able to buy a used tailgate and swap out handle/camera assembly? I'm new at all of this so I figured I'd give this a shot.

Would this 4 1/2" trim piece cover it?

If it wasn't a lease, I'd seriously consider it

Hmm.. The trailer came loose on you. Been there done that. I ended up taking it through my insurance (I only had a $300 deductible). Actual cost of repair was $1600 Canadian.

Too clean a hole. He backed into it! We have all had those days...brother in law backed in to the side of garage....good luck hitching that up.

Yeah, you can swap the stuff over if you have a non-camera tailgate or one with a different handle and trim. Just trace the wires until you get a connector and all of that. In the end a half decent body guy could sand it down, cut the damaged part out, and tig weld a new piece of aluminum in for less than what most tailgates w/out damage are going for.

Go get a estimate vs a replacement cost. Gotta way out your options. Prob cost $4-500 to fix that, then again if your deductible is $500 you could go through insurance. Call your insurance and ask if your premium will go up.
