Plan to remove rear block and/or install Deaver +1's...

1) Does the axle/tires have to be jacked up so tires are off the ground? By that pic of the block looks like you could just loosen the nuts on the U-bolts and stick a jack under the springs and raise them a hair to get the block out. Am I not seeing something right?

2) Can you just tighten up the same u-bolts or should you get new ones, possibly for 2wd so they are shorter? My first thought would be to reuse but have read some other threads where people are saying they have a high chance of cross threading or getting torn up when removing.

Just curious because I may possibly look into doing this to get a slightly more level look on a 4x4 as well, don't think I want to get into lifting the front, I'm not interested in changing wheels or tires.

1- You need to jack up the truck. Stabilize the axle so it doesn't roll off and be easy to realign.

2 - You can re-use the same bolts. As I mentioned before, they will stick out by the height of your block. In other words, they will appear to long. I had new ones made for 30$.

That is exactly how I pulled my rear blocks out. Took about 22 mins. start to finish! I reused my stock ubolts, just make sure you tighten them up evenly as you tighten them back up. That way you won't run out of threads on one side of the ubolt.

Yes did it today! Took maybe 15 minutes putting it on a lift, very simple. Looks much better Thanks for starting this thread OP

Hmmm. I might try this too - back end is way higher than it needs to be and it might help with some of my towing issues, or at least I won't need to buy the longer WDH shank. How/where do you get new Ubolts "made"? Seems like a silly question but I'm not going to find those down at Ace or Lowes. Maybe a 4wd shop?

Another option is Ford OEM u bolts for a 2WD.

There's a suspension shop not far from the house. They cater to tractors and flat beds. I dropped by and asked them. They made them as I waited. 10 mins max and 22$ tax in. I realize not everyone can have a shop like this close by so the 2wd option from Ford sounds right. There are some dealers that sell at good discount on this list.
