Default Remote Tailgate Release - Disable

A thread was recently closed, In reference to the remote tailgate. So I'll start a new one here to ask this question.

For me, I will most likely never use remote tailgate release. I also feel that there is a slight, very slight chance that I may accidently activate it in the wrong place at the wrong time. So going through the manual, page 295 shows fuse #16 located in passanger compartment fuse panel, is for the tailgate release. Will pulling this fuse disable? To late for me to check tonight. Thoughts?

I haven't checked but you could probably open up the remote and disable the button if you really wanted to. Probably easiest way.

Was also thinking that route. Probably pretty easy to place a piece of tape over the electrical contact to disable. If you could just pull a fuse with no codes popping off that would be the safest.

Pulling that fuse will also likely disable the release button on the tailgate handle itself. With no keyhole, you will not be able to open the gate at all.

( Looking at a PAC TR-7 implementation to provide locked vehicle tailagte inhibit - in the job jar).

This is definitely the easiest and most reversible method. Pop that fob open!

I hope that, this feature is disabled when the truck is in motion?

I don think so. I think I read about someone who released it intentionally while driving so snow would slide out the back.

Sounds like something out of a James Bond movie!

and the news report reads:

Billy Bob was south bound on Interstate 195 when all of a sudden, Mrs. Billy Bob, who was riding in the bed of the truck, slid out after Billy Bob accidentally hit the "open tailgate button" on his remote! The good news, The chickens in the coop were OK!
