If you enter your door code and then 5/6 it drops the tailgate. I found this out with a trailer attached! Grabbed the tailgate about a 1/2" from slamming into the trailer.

Is it possible to disconnect the actuator inside the tailgate?

I originally meant to check if it has its own fuse. Decided to cut rubber instead of playing electrical. That might be an option.

Try pulling F16 in the BCM

Or as cameronskidoo mentions, pull the connector from the release actuator so it only operates by the handle.

If you unplug that connector that will also disable the camera

Beggin' ye pardon, but ....

The actuator is all that opens the tailgate. Unplug that connector (C4223) and the little tailgate electric button will do bupkis. No way to get in.

There's no handle on the tailgate, only a button?

Hi.

Lol - no worries sir. I'm assuming here that we are talking aboot the electronic tailgate-equipped trucks. One solenoid actuator connected to two rods connected to the latches. Electric pushbutton going to the BCM.

I fully admit that I have not checked out a lower-level trim with the physical, mechanical tailgate latch. Can someone enlighten me on those - do they also have remote release (and lowering) from the FOB?

Cheers!

I believe the mechanism works the same just not remotely on lower trim. I assumed there would be a fuse for the receiver in the tailgate.
