The STX which is just an appearance package for the XL does not come with FORDCONNECT and is not an option for it either. An easy way to tell if your truck does have FORDCONNECT is if it has a fin looking antenna on the passenger side roof. Remote Start is also not an option for the XL.

You guys are awesome! I'll have him check for the fin and let you know! I assume it could have the fin and FORDCONNECT and still not have remote start, correct?

And, is FORDCONNECT like Onstar in that it's "free" for a while and then you have to pay for it?

Default Remote Start

On my truck, a 2018 xlt Oklahoma edition the key fob doesn't allow remote start. However, with sync 3 and FordPass I can remote start it if the truck can connect to WiFi. It's setting in my driveway and I can connect from my smartphone with FordPass.

Can I get a different FOB and it will remote start the truck?

I guess I just assumed that was the Sirius antenna.

THAT is completely unacceptable. Part of the purchase is supposed to include a complete walk-around, show you all the features, and ask any questions you have about your vehicle. This wasn’t such a big deal ten years ago, but in this era, there’s too many features and tech equipmen5 on our vehicles. I don’t usually get fired up about all the other standard stories we hear from dealerships, because I guess, we’ve just come to accept it. But this one is just wrong and shouldn’t slide. Especailly if he’s having these difficulties. I’d be firing off an e-mail to both, Ford and the GM of that dealership. And let them know the dissatisfaction of the sale. If that old geezer doesn’t want to do his job, someone else will. It’s unfathomable that this jerkoff is getting away with this 10, 20, 30 or more times a month. IT’S HIS JOB TO KNOW THIS STUFF. He can’t just handover the keys and collect his commission. I’m sorry, that just hits a nerve with me. I already don’t care for the stereotypical slime-ball, salesmen anyways, and he just sounds like one.

That’s interesting. Good question. I guess it never occurred to me, because my truck has remote start on the fob and FordPass. Out of curiosity, do you have to start your truck by actually putting the metal flip-out key in an ignition switch on the dash, or does your truck not have an actual ignition switch on the dash?

Default Wanna Ride - LMAO!

At my last job, I was the acting director for two years. That's a HUGE peev of mine too! SO sick of sales people and contractors who are great when they're getting their money, but WHERE are they when it's their turn to provide SERVICE???

It's a dicey situation cause my friend has maintained a business relationship with the geezer (LMAO) for like 20 years. I think he doesn't want to make waves. Again, they got a fantastic price on two trucks, but I agree still totally unacceptable...

Aw thanks a lot. Reading this thread just reminded me I should hook up my Fordpass/connect and see if it actually works. Have had the truck for 8 months and no real desire to activate this. However, I do have the factory remote start via the keyfob, and it works pretty good.
So I did the initial Fordpass account set up on a computer. Then sat in the truck, where the phone and truck talked back and forth a few times. After 5 minutes everything is hooked up and ready to go. Not sure what I'm going to use out of these functions, but I'll fool around with it and see what happens.
Someone asked the cost, well that varies from year to year. My 2018 came with a 5 year free program.
