hmm.. I can remote start my truck with the tail gate open, and rear and driver doors open..

But hey, keep giving advise, it's gonna be right at some point.

Glad I found this thread. Mine has been acting up too. It worked today, but for 3 days straight it wasn't working at all. Lights would blink, and on a couple occasions, it attempted to turn but failed to start. On the other attempts, it failed to turn at all and all I heard was a click and the lights blink.

Going to check my battery tomorrow, change the remote battery, then reset the battery if it continues failing.

Not sure why you think it's necessary to respond like that, that doesn't help anyone.

I may have been wrong about the doors being open but I know that the remote start will not work with a check engine light or if there's something in system that it sees that it doesn't "like".

I'm having this issue now also. I just put on an AEM CAI, the check engine light came on, no remote start. It just honks at me when i give the command. It's probably related to a safety mode overide so you don't potentially damage the engine.

I'm hoping my computer will remap and the light will go off and it will start working again. I'll try unhooking the battery to see if there's any change also

This may sound silly but I'm pretty sure the remote start won't work is the truck detects the hood is open. Maybe a defective hood switch?

I don't think so because then the HUD would indicate the "Hood Ajar" notification

My particular symptoms are pretty evident. No problems before removing the negative terminal and adding the CAI, and then as soon as it was installed and reconnected the battery, check engine light and no remote start occur. Simple diagnosis

Remote start will not occur with a check engine light on. You need to fix what ever that is first.
