Hi, i have a 2016 XL truck that i added aftermarket remote start to. The starter is working perfectly, but i have noticed that the climate control doesn’t switch on till the key is in the ignition. Is there anything that i can do to resolve that since that pretty well defeats the purpose of the remote start

 

You’ll need to go into vehicle settings on dash menu for remote start and check the box for “Last Setting” or something like that. Then you’ll need to remember to place all controls for Fan speed, defrost/heat controls where you want them before you shut off the truck so the system remembers last setting. “Auto” in the menu allegedly gets you heating to 70 degrees but at minimal Fan speed. StartX system adds the menu option. My FordPass App on my 20 STX works the exact same way.

 

so this is a flat out base truck w/o remote start from the factory, I added it with an aftermarket kit. I don’t have these options on the dash menu

 

Was it a plug n play one that tied into your OBD port?

 

Yes, the remote start is working great, just trying to solve the climate controls now

 

Have you double check your menus for the addition of options? I know when I put a StartX in the 17 XL it programmed the options into the menu. Uses your existing key fob right? Press lock 3 times? Otherwise I guess Forscan is your next step.

 

The aftermarket kit should explain how to get, or not get, the climate settings to work with remote start, no?

 

ok.... i can help clear this up...... the lights on the climate controls DO NOT light up during remote start....... also depending on the system, the blower motor may not kick on until the vehicle is up to operating temp. i am a 12volt installer and see this alot........if you have forscan, you can go into the ipc menu and add the climate control selection in the remote start menu that allows you to keep last setting

 

I've installed aftermarket starters in Ford's and needed to enable options on the ipc for remote start, using forscan. Iirc, display remote start menu, climate settings, etc. Enable based on what your truck has.

Then, as someone else mentioned, the climate system will be active during a remote start, but all of the buttons/controls will appear off.
