Default Remote Start not working

Hello peeps,

Mine is a 2018 2.7L and I have the remote start as per the VIN sticker, but when I press the remote x2 it does nothing, Tried both the key FOB's but both don't work, is there something that I am missing? or does this need Forscan intervention to change anything....currently at 14K miles, will this be covered under warranty work if I get the dealer to resolve this...

This is due to a common issue with new vehicles. It's called "Owner didn't read the manual yet". Download a copy at owner.ford.com, it's searchable. 3

To remote start your vehicle: 1. Press the lock button to lock all the doors. 2. Press the remote start button twice. The exterior lamps flash twice.

Interesting, my 2015 does it with two presses of the lock button, doors lock on the first press and truck starts on the second. Guess things have changed.

Not according to your manual...

Did you, or a prior owner, put in an aftermarket remote start?

Two pushes of the lock button should make the horn acknowledge the locking, nothing more.

You keep saying hitting the 2x button. You need to hit lock, then the 2X button twice.

There is no such thing as Onepass. Do you mean FordPass?

If there are conditions prohibiting remote start from working, it wouldn't work with any method (for example, hook switch not closing).

As to what makes me think you didn't read your manual and follow the correct process before posting? Oh, years on the forum and responding to over 10,000 posts... People spend $50 - $60,000 on a vehicle and don't read manuals.

And yes, if you can't get it working, your warranty coverage would cover any repair. Of course, if you used FORScan to "flip some switches" on other things, and the dealer sees this, they may refuse to cover any repair they feel is related. In addition, if this is simply user-error, i.e. you're doing it wrong, they may charge a diagnostic charge of an hour's labor. Depends on your dealer.

Just to make sure, you’re pressing the lock button once (in red below) and the start button twice? (Green)

More than likely because your truck is an XL that didn't have remote start from the factory. Your fob probably doesn't have the little button that says x2 on it with an arrow.
